The Main Man's book... Mostly.
By Vermillion
Like other reviews have said, don't buy this if you're expecting it to be more about Superman/Martian Manhunter. Surprisingly, this book is more about Lobo. If you're a Lobo fan, then you'll most likely love this book, if not, I'm not sure you will. Lobo is an over the top character. In vein of The Punisher and Wolverine, and humor kinda like Deadpool, except he's more brutal most of the time. But he's not completely evil, he does do good deeds every once in awhile, and he loves space dolphins. I finished this book in about a week. It was an entertaining read.

Lobo was a pretty popular character in the early/mid 90's, his popularity has died down since then. He has appeared in "Superman: The Animated Series" and in an episode of "Justice League." A more kid friendly Lobo, but still had pretty much all the same characteristics from the comic book version.

Not really sure what else to say, so I'll end it... This book is worth reading if you "get" the character Lobo, which I certainly do.

Entertaining with plenty of action
By Paul Lappen
Lobo is the meanest and most ornery bounty hunter in the galaxy. He is the sort of being who has no problem killing anyone who gets in his way. His next quarry, supposedly with a million-credit bounty on his head, is J'onn J'onnzz, Martian Manhunter of the Justice League.

Despite Lobo's lack of morality, he does have a code of honor, being scrupulously honest. He also has a crush on Darlene, a waitress at a burger joint on an asteroid.

Meantime, somewhere in the interstellar middle of nowhere, an artificial intelligence called The Alpha hatches a plan to wipe out all life in the universe. When Lobo delivers J'onnzz, with Superman not far behind, all three are thrown in prison. But, this is not your average prison. The walls in Superman's cell are impregnated with kryptonite; Lobo and J'onnzz are similarly trapped. The only thing that all three have in common is that they are the last of their race (in Lobo's case, it was intentional).

The Alpha plans to dissect them and use that emotional energy to create an invincible fighting force. Their release, and stopping The Alpha before it wipes out any more civilizations, depends on a crime boss named Xemtex. Lobo cut Xemtex's brain out of his head, and it now controls Lobo's space bike.

Coming from a comic book "mentality" (for lack of a better word), it's a very fast and entertaining read with plenty of action. It's recommended, especially for those who don't consider themselves comic book readers.

  • Great book!

From Publishers Weekly
To be published on Valentine's Day, this solid and enjoyable but not exceptional thriller about a Black Widow killer has been selected by Bookspan as the "2005 International Thriller of the Year." That's obviously jumping the gun, and probably has more to do with the unusual sales gambit by which Bookspan was allowed to sell the book prior to bookstore distribution than with the novel's quality. Still, megaseller Patterson, here writing for the first time with Roughan (The Up and Comer), again shows his usual flair for brisk narrative, strong suspense and genuine twists in tracing the story of how FBI agent John O'Hara tracks down serial killer Nora Sinclair. As the novel opens, beautiful Nora, an interior designer for the very rich, and already wealthy after having killed her first husband for his inheritance, is juggling an engagement to a hedge-fund manager in tony Briarcliff Manor in upstate New York and a marriage to a bestselling author in Boston. She intends to kill both, but chooses the hedge-fund manager first; after she poisons him, enter O'Hara, posing as a sympathetic insurance investigator but secretly working to nab Nora. In time, Nora seduces O'Hara, so his attempt to catch her is compromised by lust; there's also a major subplot involving a suitcase containing documents pointing to more than a billion dollars transferred to Cayman Islands banks, a subplot fully tied into the main plot only near book's end. O'Hara and particularly Nora stand as two of Patterson's most complex characters yet, but the narrative, while nearly impossible to stop reading, doesn't have the emotional pull of the author's Alex Cross novels or some of his Women's Murder Club titles. This is one canny thriller, though, and Patterson's millions of fans will be most pleased. Expect sky-high sales.

From Booklist
The year 2004 saw three books from Patterson, and he's showing no signs of slowing down. In a departure from both the Alex Cross and Women's Murder Club series, Patterson takes on a romance that is a far cry from the sweet love stories he has tried his hand at in the last few years. Nora Sinclair has a gorgeous Connecticut fiance, Connor. She had an equally sexy Boston husband, Jeffrey. But bad things happen to the men Nora gets involved with--her first husband died of a heart attack, and before long Connor meets a similar fate. The FBI is suspicious and sends agent John O'Hara to pose as an insurance investigator who dangles a tantalizing prize in front of Nora: a $1.9 million life-insurance policy on Connor's life, payable to Nora. She is suspicious, but she goes along with John's investigation into Connor's death. John isn't able to dig up much on Nora, but he does find himself in an awkward predicament when he realizes he's attracted to her. Patterson and cowriter Roughan's novel has all the trademarks of a Patterson-only thriller--short, suspenseful chapters; quick, punchy sentences; and a breakneck pace--and it delivers enough adrenaline that fans will likely forgive the novel's occasional implausibility. Shocked to be shocked
By Anne
I read a lot. Hours each day. Every genre. I'm fascinated by a book that surprises me because I typically know what's going to happen half way through. That doesn't make me like a book any less, it just makes me realize, again, that at this point in my life, having majored in English 50 years ago, and having read voraciously since, that I've become delightfully intuitive over time. James Paterson's Honeymoon was an incredible exception. Every chapter surprised me, even shocked me. I just wasn't expecting the intertwined twists and turns of this tale. Bravo, Mr. Patterson and co-writer. BRAVO!

Lisa Samson writes from the heart
By lor369
Lisa Samson has written some great books, but this is by far her best. In this books, she touches on several themes. One, Charmaine, the main character, is struggling with her mother's abandonment and her desire to find a home. Second, this book deals with mental illness, such as depression and schizophrenia.
Lisa Samson is a Christian writer. Yet, through her book, she expresses that it is OK to get help for mental illness, and that depression, etc. is not because you are weak or have a sin problem. The church has a misunderstanding on what mental illness is about, but she disposes of the myths in her book.
This book is one of the best I've read on the subject of depression (also, read Karen Kingsbury's "When Joy Came to Stay".)
Lisa has a way of creating well-developed characters with depth and who are multidimensional. Some Christian writers create "goody-goody" characters, but Lisa creates characters that are easy to relate to and who aren't perfect. You couldn't help but love Mrs. Evans, Grandma Min, Grandma Sara, Ruth, and some of Charmaine's other friends. And you can't help but hate people like Richard, Grace, and her parents. And of course, you end up feeling sorry for Charmaine's mother.
Lisa writes with such depth, and is so easygoing in her books that I feel like I hearing my best friend talk to me. She also sprinkles humor throughout the book.

My lands...
By Marilynn Griffith
this is a wonderful book. Myrtle Charmaine Whitehead Hopewell is a lady every woman should know. She's someone you could put on your houseshoes with and eat food with your hands. Her life has been hard, jagged even. Yet Charmaine still manages to love, despite being abandoned by her pretty waitress mother at age eleven or a string of other tragedies that follow every time she tries to care, to stay. Her love is preserved in part by a special gift, tied up with a bow and placed in her throat by God himself, the voice of a songbird.

Lisa Samson never ceases to amaze me with the quiet strength her characters possess as they erase the lines between secular and sacred bringing the reader to a better understanding of humanity as a whole. So many times in this book, I saw something of myself or people I know. No wonder this won a Christy Award. It's magical.

Insight Into A Common Problem
By Edie O
Once again Lisa Samson was unafraid to tackle a murky subject, this time depression. To medicate or not to medicate, that is the faith question. She writes so honestly and right where we live, yet does it with a lot of style.

Not the best...somewhat incomplete...gives broad brush
By Lee Say Keng
Frankly speaking, I am quite disappointed with this book.
When I bought this book, I had the impression that it is about the protection of intellectual capital. Also, I was attracted to the book because of an introduction by Robert Kiyosaki, whose work I am very familiar.
Although the book gives a broad brush about intellectual property (IP) protection from many different perspectives, and offers some useful guidelines to help protect your intellectual interests, it is somewhat incomplete as far as the protection of ideas or intellectual capital is concerned.
It does not give any specific illustration and/or example on how to protect your intellectual capital from the standpoint of goodwill, reputation, expertise, (especially accumulated practical skills), data and know-how...more specifically, your ideas and/or "working methodologies" which are embodied in products and services.
Take an example from the book, on page 58, under Utility Patent Protection, the author talked about:
"Business method is patentable if:
- it produces a useful, concrete, and tangible result; and
- it is novel and not obvious;
but the book stops short of giving specific business cases or product examples to illustrate this key point. This is, to me, intellectual capital, and I want to know how to protect it!
As a matter of fact, the author talked about how he came to know Robert Kiyosaki...from the CashFlow game. Funny enough, the author did not even bother to give any detailed account on the IP protection scheme pertaining to the game. Nothing at all, period. I thought this would have been a very appropriate subject, because of the need for the protection of intellectual capital behind the development of the game - and the gameplay procedure - from pirates.
The book listed a lot of other IP stuff, which were not covered in the book, but the author directed the reader to his website. For example, the author introduced his IP self-audit checklist, among other things, which sounds interesting. When I checked his website, I realised I had to fork out US$129/- to buy a CD-ROM containing the stuff.
My overall personal impression of the book is that both Michael Lechter and Robert Kiyosaki are using each other to sell each other's products and services! (which are well-illustrated on many end pages of the book!) The poor reader is expected to fork out more effort and money...maybe that's why the Rich Dad series of products are so lucrative for the author.
On the whole, this book falls short of my personal expectations. I am very disappointed with the author and also, Robert Kiyosaki.
To be fair to the author, I feel that the book, even though it is incomplete from my personal viewpoint, still provides a broad-brush about IP, - especially on copyrights, patents, and trademarks, - from many different perspectives.

Keeping Sole Ownership of Your Valuable Ideas!
By Donald Mitchell
Protecting Your #1 Asset is one of the most helpful introductions to the legal side of intellectual property acquisition and management that I have seen. Few who are not intellectual property attorneys have this knowledge. As a result of ignorance, many well-meaning individuals make substantial mistakes that cost them substantial incomes. This book will "alert you to the pitfalls that can strip the rights from the unwary."
This book covers the primary ways to protect intellectual property, including trade secrets, utility and design patents, mask work protection, copyrights, trademarks, and trade dress. This is done in the context of maximizing your revenue and income by creating protected intellectual property and creating competitive barriers, while minimizing the risk of receiving and being harmed by third-party claims against you.
The book's set piece is Robert Kiyosaki's experience with inventing what he called a "shoe pocket" which was Velcro and nylon wallet that is now called a "surfer shoe." Mr. Kiyosaki did not protect his idea, and was soon put out of business by competitors who copied and outperformed him. The book then goes into a number of horror story examples of how simple mistakes can cost a person or a company its intellectual property. Some mistakes can be as simple as not properly dating invention notes, while others can involve "abandoning" the invention by not continuously working on it.
The book gives you a lot of guidelines of what you need to do to obtain and retain protection, and helps you understand the pros and cons (and availability of these protections).
As someone who studied intellectual property in law school, I found the book impressive. I intend to recommend it to those I know who are developing intellectual property but have limited knowledge of the field.
The book's main weakness is that it doesn't give you a sense of what the costs are related to these protections. If you have intellectual property worth a billion dollars and lots of cash now, that's not a problem. Go for the best protection! On the other hand, if you have something that you're not sure what the value is and not much cash, you may want to take the less expensive routes. Top intellectual property legal advice will usually cost hundreds of dollars an hour. A worldwide patent position can cost well into six figures in dollars. So if you need intellectual property counsel, get into those cost issues at the beginning of your relationship. If trade secret and copyright protections are enough, the advantage they have is that they are not very costly to obtain and maintain. In seeking out intellectual property help, do try to find an attorney who is experienced and has educational credentials in the field in which you are seeking protection for your work. A small percentage of the bar (less than 5 percent) is well qualified to work in these areas as Mr. Lechter implies. Within that small group, one person in 30 will probably be much better suited to your issues. Take the time to find that person.
After you finish reading and thinking about this book, I suggest that you also consider how you could build a business out of just creating intellectual property. That business model may be one of the most valuable in the decades ahead.
Seek ideal improvements daily!

Teaches the basics, if you can get through it
By A Customer
Background: I've read all of the RD books, 6 of the Rich Dad's Advisors series, and other books by the RDA authors. For all of the RD/RDA books, I have found the conversational style to be very readable and an effective manner in which to convey information. With this book, however, it was a struggle to get through it. In terms of readability and value, this is the worst RD book I've read.
Coverage of Material: I am not knowledgable about IP law, and I felt that this book provided a basic coverage of the issues.
Organization: One frustration I had was that a lot of material was repeated, and obviously so. Rather than organizing the book in a more efficient manner, the author instead chose to repeat certain passages. When I've paid for a book, I don't care for the same half-page passage repeated three or four times.
Writing Style: The first part of the book was well written. I especially liked the initial horror stories and phone conversation, both of which were written in a conversational style. If that style had been maintained throughout the book, I would have given it 4 or 5 stars. However, the writing quickly degraded to being almost unbearable. Some parts of the book were written with a condescending tone, and it seemed that Mr. Lechter was stroking his ego. I also found the lengthy discussion on the Internet's structure to be tedious and unnecessary, perhaps a filler to increase the page count. This information was not relevant to the subject; a one or two page summary of the Internet would have been sufficient.
Other Comments: I've enjoyed Robert Kiyosaki's books, but as a whole they are full of contradicting information. This book was no exception. In the foreword, Mr. Kiyosaki uses the same quote three times, wording it differently each time, and giving two different references (Rich Dad for two, himself for one).
Bottom Line: I read this book because I want to read all of the Rich Dad and Rich Dad's Advisors books. In general, although a few of them are blatant advertisements, I've learned something from each one. In the case of this book, I would strongly suggest you find an alternative, unless you want this book because of the series affiliation. Legal primers available online provide a better value.

Smart but Feeling Dumb: New Research on Dyslexia--And How It May Help You, by Harold N. Levinson

Millions of Americans know the pain, frustration, and sense of inferiority caused by the learning disability known as dyslexia--characterized by reading, writing, and spelling reversals. Dr. Harold N. Levinson's more than 20 years of research resulted in discoveries that offer new hope to those with dyslexia. Now research clearly demonstrates that dyslexia could be acquired as a result of ear infections and other common syndromes; that dyslexia might be associated with a wide range of serious disorders such as mental retardation, cerebral palsy, and deafness; that the hidden dyslexic component of these disorders could be effectively treated; and that most phobias and many so-called mental, emotional, and psychosomatic disturbances are caused by the same physical distrubance underlying dyslexia. This new edition is updated to include expanded research that Dr. Levinson has undertaken over the last eight years.Smart But Feeling Dumb was originally published in Warner trade paperback in 1988. There are more than 42,000 copies in print. One out of every five people is affected by dyslexia, including 50 million Americans. The condition is often misdiagnosed and mistreated.Dr. Harold Levinson is a Clinical Associate Professor of Psychiatry at NYU Medical Center and Director of the Medical Dyslexic Treatment Center in New York. He has two daughters who both struggle with dyslexia.

This book brought tears to my eyes and joy to my heart.I did not find out I had dyslexia until my first year in college. I was always a straight A student so I don't think anyone thought I had a problem, but I knew something was wrong. I was always writing things backwards and a short term memory at times. I was hyperactive and I lashed when I got frustrated (then I would feel guilty) and I didn't understand why. I always felt unloved and stupid even though I had tons of friends and a scholarly academic life.I have been called smart and intelligent but it was sometimes coupled with the words crazy, over emotional, overly sensitive, mean, unsociable etc.No one could understand why this beautiful intelligent successful girl (me) could not see herself that way. I had been to a counselor once I got older but most diagnosed me as depressed. I had no clue these issues I was dealing with have to do with dyslexia. At the age of 28 this is a breath of fresh air and a definite sign of hope. I wish I had this information years ago. This book communicates what I tried to explain to my parents, my teachers, the counselor, my friends, my boyfriends, ie. but they could never understand. I'm not saying all people with these symptoms that have dyslexia, but if even if you suspect your child may pleeeeeaaaaaassssee read this book. It was save a lot of pain and confusion for you and especially your child.

Did not read this book...
By a-wish-upon-a-star
However, I can testify that I saw, personally, the extremely strong link between corrective vestibular stimulation (as shown to me by an occupational therapist), and reading problems.

My son was diagnosed with sensory integratin disorder at age three. They told me that he would have trouble learning to read. I did not believe them, as he was an extremely bright child with an above average IQ (as per tests, and as everyone kept telling me.) Well, they were right, and I was wrong. He did have tremendous difficulty learning to read.

We spent time and money on tutors, made him practice reading (which he hated). Absolutely no results. After a session of sensory integration therapy (correctly done), he suddenly read fluently and quickly. This only lasted for a couple of hours, at most a day, then he would regress to reading very, very slowly and stumbling over the words. In the end, sensory integration therapy was only partly helpful, as the effects of therapy were not long-term, however sensory integration therapy is still in its very early stages, with therapists mainly using a "trial and error" method (each therapist I saw diagnosed him differently).

However, the link is definitely there. I saw my son reading fluently after a SI session, it was like a light switch - on/off. The problem being that it seemed to switch off after a certain amount of time. His behavior also underwent a dramatic change after therapy - for the same limited amount of time. He was calm, happy, and easy to deal with. I suspect that when they come up with a way for parents to do this therapy easily at home - every day - we will have seen a "cure" to these neurologically based problems.

The General's Daughter, by Nelson DeMille

Here is an intriguing and sophisticated murder mystery of an upstanding military officer - the base commander's daughter - who's been leading an unsavory double life.

When a professional military woman with a pristine reputation is found raped and murdered, a preliminary search turns up certain paraphernalia, and sex toys that point to a scandal of major proportions, The chief investigator is reluctant to take the case when he learns that his partner will be a woman with whom he had a tempestuous affair and an unpleasant parting. But duty calls and intrigue begins when they learn that several top-level people may have been involved with the "golden girl" - and many have wanted her dead.

It's Nelson DeMille at his best - exciting, suspenseful and highly provocative.

Amazon.com Review
Long before the John Travolta film of The General's Daughter (which the author extols in the foreword), Nelson DeMille's seventh mystery was the breakout hit of his career. The rapid-fire dialogue and scenes are cinematic, and the storytelling puts most movies to shame.

The book has three heroes: Paul Brenner and Cynthia Sunhill of the army's Criminal Investigation Division and Capt. Ann Campbell, found dead with her underpants around her neck on the firing range at Fort Hadley, Georgia. Brenner and Sunhill are lowly warrant officers, but as investigators they can theoretically arrest their superiors--as long as their case is airtight. This ups the tension level, as does the fact that Brenner and Sunhill once had an adulterous affair.

The chief problem, though, is too many suspects. Capt. Campbell, the daughter of the general who runs the base, is literally a poster woman for the New Army, a West Point grad and Gulf War hero who posed in a life-size recruitment poster. It's pinned up on her basement wall--and when the sleuths touch the poster it swings back to reveal a hidden playroom stocked with sex toys and videos of many army guys in pig masks and the captain in high heels. She was a high-IQ "two percenter"--and Brenner finds that two percenters often wind up on his desk as homicide suspects. Why is this one a victim? It has something to do with the collected works of Nietzsche on her bookshelf, corruption in high places, and the rag and bone shop of the heart.

This is one racy read, and it crackles with authenticity. DeMille is a Vietnam veteran who does for military justice what John Grisham does for civilians. --Tim Appelo

From Publishers Weekly
After the wit and panache of his bestselling The Gold Coast , DeMille's latest effort may disappoint his fans. The author returns to his more customary stylish-suspense-novel mode but retains a smart-aleck narrator--here, Paul Brenner, of the Army's Criminal Investigation Division. At Fort Hadley, Ga., Ann Campbell, daughter of the post commander, is found murdered under bizarre circumstances. Brenner learns that Ann's entire personal life, in fact, veered toward the bizarre; she even had a secret basement "playroom" in her home. Moral turpitude runs riot at Fort Hadley, and Brenner must wade through muck of all sorts to discover the killer's identity. Too much muck, as it turns out: the detective work becomes repetitious, and suspense is unfortunately in short supply. Brenner's one-liners have none of the punch of John Sutter's wry observations in The Gold Coast --indeed, the device of a waggish narrator doesn't fit these proceedings; the wisecracks seem grafted on. So, too, does a resumed romance between Brenner and an old flame--we don't get a good enough picture of either to care about whatever sparks might fly. Characterization in general is fuzzy, though DeMille captures the often unquestioning regimen of life on a military base. One only wishes that his tale had more spirit and dash. Author tour.

A story that manages to be sad, funny, and a great read.
By Roger J. Buffington
This is a novel that showcases many of DeMille's strengths as a writer--it manages to be incredibly sad in parts, and utterly hilarious in others. This is a military detective story, and probably the best one I've ever read. DeMille's authenticity as regards military life in the modern Army is total--he transports the reader into the military culture--which is a culture derived from American culture but nonetheless profoundly separate from it.
The daughter of the Commanding General of Ft. Hadley has been murdered under bizarre circumstances. DeMille's protagonist, Warrant Officer Brenner, a detective of the Army CID, is detailed to discover who, how, and why. This novel is written in the first person from Brenner's perspective and in this novel this perspective works brilliantly. Brenner and his teammate, WO Sunhill, discover that finding the answers to the riddle is like peeling an onion--with multiple layers of intrigue and corruption surrounding the circumstances of the victim's death. Brenner's observations about the investigation, military life, and his approach to crime-busting are all fascinating, possess a wry but sad humor, and contain a gritty authenticity that make this story highly plausible. The characters crackle with life and realism. The story develops smartly and never drags.
This is one of those books that you won't put down. The ending is climactic and startling--and incredibly sad. I was depressed for days after reading this novel, but since then I have read it several more times. This book is an incredibly "good read" and anyone who likes suspense novels will enjoy it thoroughly. Few will read this novel without being moved by it.

Kinky Murder Mystery Lusty But Lacking
By Bill Slocum
When Nelson DeMille gets going, there are few fiction writers to beat him. Other than "Finnegan's Wake" in Sanskrit, there's nothing more difficult for a reader than putting down "Plum Island" in the last 150 pages. "The General's Daughter" actually is the reverse, though, pulling you in quickly and then running out of steam.

The concept grabs you fast: A female Army officer is found bound, naked, and dead on the rifle range of a Southern military installation. A Criminal Investigation Division warrant officer is pulled from his undercover case to investigate the homicide, and learns about the victim's secret life, which basically consisted of rough sex games that connected to her interest in aberrant psychology and her own wounded past.

DeMille provides some details into what this is all about, with descriptions that are quite graphic, though more in a clinical than salacious way. I didn't have a problem with this, though I can see why others would. Not only is the victim sexually active, she is actually quite eager to be hurt. At one point, she talks about being raped by a male character as the only time she found him "interesting."

This is thin ice for a writer to skate on, but DeMille carries it off because his depiction of the character, Capt. Ann Campbell, is both vivid and compassionate. DeMille works the reader's libido, creating an edgy, lusty portrait much like Sharon Stone did on screen in "Basic Instinct," the same year of this book's publication. Yet the more you read of her, the sorrier you feel.

"Why do some men think they have to be knights in shining armor?" we read in her journal. "I am my own knight, I am my own dragon, and I live in my own castle."

The problem with "The General's Daughter" is none of the living characters seem as alive. Not only do they lack Capt. Campbell's dark spell, they are rather inert and soulless. Paul Brenner, the CID investigator, has some good wisecracks but his tough-guy routine wears thin.

With him is former flame and rape specialist Cynthia Sunhill who DeMille needs in this book not only to give Paul someone to talk to by way of exposition but also to remind us from time to time that rape and suchlike are bad things most women really don't like. But DeMille's attempts to create some romantic interest between the two investigators feels forced, and by the end of the book, fairly absurd.

Also a problem is the mystery. Though well set up, it just didn't make much sense when it was over. Like other reviewers here note, there are too many suspects and too little is done to fill the reader in on how, other than gut instincts, the investigators come to focus on one. There's a slow crawl to the end, a sudden resolution, and a number of questions DeMille strangely leaves unanswered, like the reappearance of a ring and the disappearance of a material witness in another case.

In the end, I couldn't get Capt. Campbell out of my head, and I'm guessing DeMille couldn't either. After the first 100 pages, the book never seems to go anywhere without her in it. Even though her story has its share of logic gaps, too, she's so erotically high-charged in her uncomfortable, heroic way you kind of skirt over them until after you get through the novel. "The General's Daughter" is one mystery where the victim is more interesting than the crime.

EXCELLENT CHARACTER: PAUL BRENNER
By Kay's Husband
With 164 other reviews here you don't need much from me. No, I'm not a large fan of Mr. DeMille but two of his books have caught my interest: this one and UP COUNTRY which coincidently have the same character, Paul Brenner.

This is a very satisfying read and though the murder case is kinky and unpleasant the writing and humor along the way will keep most readers reading. His partner, Cynthia Sunhill also of CID, adds repartee as they verbally play off one another. The story flows along very well and anyone who has been in the military will find the dialog or jargon fairly familiar. For those who did not spend time in uniform, Mr. DeMille does his best to demilitarize the jargon into everyday language. So many things in this novel ring true. Hope he writes another concerning these CID people, makes for very interesting reading.

If you are looking for a past bestseller from a decade ago that still offers good reading you might want to look this one up. It's worth it.

Semper Fi.

From Publishers Weekly
The tension starts early and builds throughout the third installment in Melton's romantic suspense series featuring Navy SEALs. Sara Garret, after living in fear of her hard-as-nails JAG prosecutor husband, decides to flee after he terrorizes their son, Kendal. An acquaintance, SEAL sniper Chase McCaffrey, who appeared in Melton's In the Dark, reluctantly offers a means of escape. Headed to Oklahoma to check on a ranch inherited from an abusive stepfather, Chase decides not to let memories of his own miserable childhood keep him from helping mother and son. Soon he's using all his skills to keep himself, Kendal and Sara safe. When they arrive at the ranch, they discover that Chase's dead stepfather played a key role in a group of white supremacists. As Sara's husband closes in and the skinheads prove increasingly dangerous, Chase's growing love for Sara presents an even greater threat as it undermines the grip he's held on his emotions all these years. Melton, who writes medieval romances as Marliss Moon, doesn't miss a beat in this involving story. (Feb.)

From Booklist
After Garret, her abusive husband, strangles her son's pet to "teach him a lesson," Sara begs Chase McCaffrey to help them disappear. Using his SEAL training, he spirits them away to his forsaken Oklahoma ranch, an unexpected legacy from his hated stepfather, but ends up clashing with a group of skinheads using the place to store illegal weapons in preparation for a terrorist attack. Meanwhile, Garret is hot on Sara's trail with vengeance in mind and an Amber Alert in force to help him. Melton's edgy contemporary romantic suspense winds up the SEAL Team Twelve trilogy--Forget Me Not (2004) and In The Dark (2005)--with emotional fireworks as well as some fancy sniper shooting, courtesy of Chase's military training and expertise. Once again Hannah Geary Lindstrom plays a pivotal part in the proceedings, facilitating romance while she protects Sara and her son's new identities, and puts the FBI's vast resources to work ferreting out the skinheads' plans. Time to Run (Navy SEALs, Book 3)
This the 3rd in the series of Navy Seals Romance Book. It wasn't the best suspence of the 3 books but it did have good character developement. I would like to have known more about the seal involved in the story. You really didn't get to know much about him. He was introduced in the 2nd of the series. I like the way there is across over of characters in the books. I am already reading the 4th book in series.
Love those SEALS
