The pair soon learn that Daniels was the U.S.'s main liaison with Mahmoud Charabi, an Iraqi exile who, like the real-life Ahmed Chalabi, was a leading advocate of military action to topple Saddam Hussein. The discovery that Charabi may have been in the employ of Iranian intelligence raises the stakes for the inquiry, which takes place just weeks before the 2004 presidential election. Great suspense, looks easy to solve but great surprise at the end.

I pride myself on being able to solve most mysteries on my own as the plot develops. However, plot twist at the end really tricked me. Great read written by a writer that really understands the military and politicians. I believe this story is probably very close to the truth except for the murders that underlay the plot. Not that the government is not capable of murder to cover incredible bad decisions.

Brian Haig at his best. The story narrative reveals history come to life with characters, twists and turns which keep the reader involved and constantly on edge. This is a superb reading experience for those involved in the geopolitical machinations of our times. Where is truth fiction and fiction truth? Exciting read!

My actual rating is 4.8 Stars. I love the Sean Drummond character and I'm sad this is the last book in the series that I hadn't read. I've never given any book 5 stars but this adventure came very close. Great fun and a great read!
