Amazon.com Review
Identical twins are fair game for a thriller writer, and in The Switch, queen of suspense Sandra Brown (The Alibi, Standoff, Fat Tuesday) makes the most of an intricate setup involving Gillian and Melina Lloyd, a pair of thirtysomething Dallas beauties. When Gillian hears her biological clock ticking, she puts herself in the hands of the world-famous Waters Clinic and is artificially inseminated (as described in a somewhat plodding first chapter that omits no detail of the procedure). The action picks up when Gillian switches places with her twin, a media escort, and chauffeurs sexy astronaut Chief Hart around town. It turns out to be a fatal attraction, and suspicion falls on Chief when Gillian's mutilated body is found the next day.

The dead woman's smarmy and enigmatic boyfriend, Jem Hennings, has a vested interest in focusing police efforts on Hart, but Melina has her own reasons for thinking him wrong. Jem's connection with a charismatic preacher known as Brother Gabriel is at the heart of this mildly creepy mystery, in which the plucky Melina tracks Brother Gabriel to his lair and uncovers his diabolical plot while simultaneously revealing her own dark secret. The ending is telegraphed well in advance, but that won't deter Brown's many fans from relishing the details, including some sex scenes that are spicier than most of the florid prose that usually turns up in romantic thrillers of this sort. But that may be why the author inevitably rockets to the top of the bestseller list, where The Switch is destined to land. --Jane Adams

From Publishers Weekly
With some 60 novels, including 40-plus bestsellers already to her credit, it seems a sure bet that this new romantic thriller will not blemish Brown's phenomenal track record. On a whim, the same day she is artificially inseminated at a Dallas fertility clinic, Gillian Lloyd switches places with her identical twin sister, Melina, a professional celebrity escort assigned to chauffeur astronaut Col. Christopher Hart (or "Chief," as he is called by his NASA cohorts because his mother was a Native American). It's lust at first sight. Swept away by Chief, Gillian is caught up in a marathon frenzy of lovemaking in his hotel room. Slipping out in the wee hours of the night, she is found brutally butchered in her own bed the next morning. From an obscene blood-smeared scrawl on the bedroom wall, her sister realizes that the killing was related to Gillian's love tryst with the astronaut. Hours later, the killer, an employee at the fertility clinic, commits suicide. The resulting investigation connects him to Brother Gabriel, the charismatic, egomaniacal leader of a powerful TV religious cult who is mysteriously linked in turn to artificial insemination clinics nationwide. Determined to avenge Gillian's murder, Melina and Chief become the targets of professional assassins masquerading as FBI agents. Potential witnesses are murdered as the trail eventually leads the pair (now fighting to keep their hands off each other) cross-country to Brother Gabriel's mountain stronghold in the remote reaches of New Mexico. Displaying her talents for fast pacing and tricky plotting, Brown delivers one of her patented twists in the denouement, setting the scene for a breathy, rose-colored climax. 700,000 first printing; major ad/promo.

From Library Journal
Identical twins Melina and Gillian Lloyd share all of their thoughts and experiences. However, each follows her own lifestyle and career path. Gillian is in real estate but wishes to start a family before it is too late. In her public relations position, Melina is assigned to escort a famous astronaut, Christopher "Chief" Heart. The next day Gillian is found, and the case is closed when the murderer is quickly tracked down and discovered to have committed suicide. But that special bond between twins tells Melina that there is more to this tragedy. With the aid of the Chief she sets out to find answers. The story moves along amidst plot twists, dangerous encounters, and romantic interludes. Reader Jan Maxwell maintains a steady pace and brings to life the wide range of personalities. A good selection for popular fiction collections. Catherine Swenson, Norwich Univ., Northfield, VT

Amazon...We Need More Stars For This One!!!
By MaryannJr
If I sat here all day, I couldn't begin tell you how much I enjoyed "The Switch". Being a fan of Sandra Brown's, I bought the book the day it hit the shelves as I always do with each of her titles as they are released. I was kind of expecting the typical 'twins switching places and getting into trouble' story, but what I got was sooo much more ! Ms. Brown has worked her magic on an old story and given it a brand-spankin-new-twist! It's the kind of mystery that keeps possible endings hanging in the back of your mind, just waiting for the most bizarre shocker to pop out. The ending of this book had me whooping for joy ! Outgoing Melina and reserved Gillian know each other better than they know themselves and when Gillian is brutally murdered after taking a life-altering risk (by being artificially inseminated), you can almost feel the anger and the loss her twin feels at the life thats been so cruelly wasted. When her sister informs the police that, just the night before, the women had switched places so that Gillian (impersonating her media escort sister) could meet astronaut Christopher 'Cheif' Hart, things begin to get a little jumbled. But Sandra Brown only manages to weave the web tighter. After only two chapters, you'll be frantically turning pages trying to guess whats coming, and solve the mystery. This is definately a book to invest on in hardcover. Don't wait for the paperback version. Get it today, and enjoy it.

Dust Bowl Disconnect
By CA Book Lover
The year is 1933. Margie Kinnard heads from Kansas for California in a car caravan of sorts across the plains in what should be the Dust Bowl, though it is not mentioned in the first half of the book I could stay with as a reader. I grew up in the Great Plains, in Kansas, and what she describes as their campgrounds on roads along the way seem more like what they were many years later. In Kansas and Oklahoma, trees for the most part only grow naturally along creeks and rare rivers. Today's hedgerows of trees bordering tilled fields were planted in reaction to the Dust Bowl, to try to keep the farms' topsoil from blowing away again, along with the introduction of contour plowing. The campgrounds described along highways in the book almost had to come later, at least with trees, especially in a time of a long and terrible drought. The rains stopped in 1931 and the Dust Bowl began, lasting eight years. My parents lived through it, wearing kerchiefs over their faces even inside houses, their food covered on the table and spooning under the kerchiefs in order to eat. The sky was black with blowing dirt, animals had nothing to eat, it was Armageddon for these people. But Margie's companions just traipse along in their simple down home way with everyday concerns that take no note of the existence of a Dust Bowl. Parts of Oklahoma and Kansas did escape the Dust Bowl, but they couldn't have failed to pass through it if they had been real people. Add to that they weren't interesting people at all. No memorable characters or moments here.

engaging piece of Americana
By A Customer
In 1933 three men linked by their work as ice deliverymen agree to travel together accompanied by their families on Route 66 to California. Elmer Kinnard takes his adult daughter Margie though he detests her. Alvin Putnam, his wife Grace and their blind adult son Rusty are in another vehicle. Rounding out the party is Foley Luker, his new bride Sugar and his two teens from his first wife Jody and Mona. On the road they meet Brady Hoyt taking his five year old orphaned niece Anna Marie to her aunt to live.
The road may be filled with hope, but it is a tedious and dangerous trek. Elmer is nasty to Marge and not much better with anyone else. Alvin is kind to all and his wife "adopts" Anna Marie as hers on the trip. Foley sees only Sugar and not how cruel she is to his children. Brady helps everyone, but struggles with doing the right thing for Anna Marie, the survivor of a family tragedy. As romance blooms between Mona and Rusty and between Brady and Marge, some will die on the trip while others will choose an alternate lifestyle than the Golden State fantasy when a new dream beckons.
The sequel to MOTHER ROAD, HOPE'S HIGHWAY, is an engaging piece of Americana before the Interstate system. The ensemble cast each has a distinct personality though Elmer and Sugar are too negative with no redeeming quality between them; the rest of the road show characters display caring warm personalities with flaws and doubts that make them human. Once again Dorothy Garlock proves no one knows the Depression Era road rules like she does.

simply weak
By reader
Aside from being almost 100% ... from the russian book by N.Cherkashin, this made-for-american-house-wives booklet reads almost like a Disney version of "Das Boot".
The chronology is good BUT it is available on about 100 websites now, anyway.
The writing style is that of a village daily reporter. The usual american stereotypes about Russia are omnipresent and do not fit well at all with the hero-submariner image.
Finaly: if Burleson wanted to write a good book, he should have gone to Russia to do research! Instead he browses the internet and reads a Russian author. Voila, "Kursk Down" is born.

Couldn't put 'Kursk Down' down
By Tristan Gross
'Kursk Down' will appeal to anyone who is interested in the events that led to the demise of one of the Russian's state-of-the-art Oscar-II class SSGN submarine - the Kursk. I bought it for this very reason as the story intrigued me and wanted to find out more as to what had happened to K-141.
Initially I was annoyed by the introduction where the author tried to reconstruct what may have occurred on board the Kursk before the disaster that sent it and it's 118 crew to the ocean floor. It's seemed more like a start to a Tom Clancy novel and devoid of actual facts. However as the book began to document the actual findings of the Kursk investigation and salvage operation, the scenario takes on a new light and seems a good indication (as any) of what may have occurred on board the Kursk albeit it being still somewhat speculative. The book after this initial hypothetical scenario then begins to document the chronological string of events of the disaster, from the military, political and civilian perspectives which is very interesting.
The book is very light and easy to follow but I was somewhat disappointed by the lack of any diagrams or adequate pictures. I was also dissapointed by the lack of details following the subsequent raising of the Kursk. Source information throughout the book was a little lacking. However these things aside, the book did eventually quench my thirst for what had happened to the Kursk. It subsequently pursued me to find more info on the net but for the 239 pages (of actual info) and the price of the book - I give it 4 stars.

The sinking of the Russian submarine Kursk.
By Kevin M Quigg
This is a good overview of the sinking the Russian submarine Kursk and the general state of the Russian Navy. With the breakup of the Soviet Union, the defense establishment has received far less attention and resources than before. This contributed to the sinking of the sub.
I was particularly interested in what motivated the claims of the Russian Navy that another submarine collided with the Kursk resulting in her loss. The facts are otherwise, but the political motivation to blame an external power was there. Incompetence by either personnel on the Peter the Great in shooting off a missle or in the torpedo technicians on the Kursk (not Navy personnel) led to this disaster. Old habits die hard in Russia, so someone else to blame was necessary. Burleson does a good job of writing about this in the book.

Funny, hot, but also a heart of gold
By thewordlover
I loved this book! Kimberly Raye makes you care about her characters and makes unusual situations like the heroine having a mother who is a TV sex therapist absolutely believable. For sheer fun and entertainment, Kiss Me Once is hard to beat. But what appealed to me the most was the solid gold heart of this novel--really interesting insights about what creates the best foundation for a long-term relationship. Is it really sex? Or values? or Common interests? Wild animal attraction? Love and caring? Between the covers of this sexy little romp, little ahas about how relationships grow between men and women, how we figure out what we really want out of life, and how love changes us are carefully woven into the story. Trust me, you'll laugh, you'll get turned on, you'll fall for this hero, and you'll walk away thinking about what means the most to you in a relationship.

Kiss Me Once, Kiss Me Twice
By Amazon Customer
Skye Farrel, owner of Girl Talk, discusses sex for a living. Women flock to her seminars to learn ways to improve their sex lives. But Skye knows that being an expert on sex does not guarantee a hot and spicy love life.

Clint MacAllister, NASCAR's hottest star, is ready to settle down. Unfortunately Clint isn't having much success in the marriage mart. When he meets Skye, he sees an opportunity to solve both of their problems. He can benefit from Skye's sex tips and she needs Clint's help understanding the male psyche.

As their lessons progress, the sexual tension builds. Commitment phobic Skye is reconsidering her previous held notions of marriage and relationships. And marriage minded Clint is beginning to see that following his heart is all that matters when it comes to love.

I had a ball reading Kiss Me Once, Kiss Me Twice! Clint and Skye's private
lessons were both laugh-out-loud funny and very sensual. Clint, is not just a hunk, he excels at his career and that is so very sexy. Skye is strong and independent. Her conquering the programming of her TV remote endeared her to me. I especially loved and related to Skye's cookie addiction.

The supporting characters were well developed and added a lot to the humor of the story. The secondary romances were a fun addition to the plot as well. Kiss Me Once, Kiss Me Twice is an amusing and sexy love story that fans of contemporary romance are sure to love.

Amazon.com Review
Sean Drummond is back in a provocative mystery featuring the clever, irreverent JAG lawyer introduced in Brian Haig's debut thriller (Secret Sanction). Ordered to Seoul to assist a civilian lawyer representing an army captain charged with raping and murdering the son of the South Korean defense minister, Sean is chagrined to discover that he's second-chairing his old law school rival, the brilliant, beautiful Katherine Carlson, who's famous for challenging the military's "don't ask, don't tell" policy. Katherine insists that Thomas Whitehall was framed by the Army because of his sexual orientation; while Drummond agrees that Whitehall might be the victim of a conspiracy, he thinks it has more to do with espionage than homophobia. By the time he uncovers a plot to destabilize the alliance between the U.S. and South Korea and rid the region of American troops, he's been threatened, bugged, and embarrassed--and that's by his own co-counsel, whose motives and intentions he's entirely misread! While Katherine is almost a parody of a legal provocateur, Sean comes across as an engaging fellow with a ready wit, a well-honed legal mind, and a willingness to confront his own prejudices that wins the reader's admiration. So does Haig, (incidentally, the son of Colonel Alexander "I'm in charge here" Haig) whose skillful pacing and narrative gifts mark him as a writer worth watching. --Jane Adams

From Publishers Weekly
A relentless fusillade of surprise and humor drives this unusually jocular military/legal thriller set in Seoul. When the soldier son of South Korea's defense minister is raped and murdered by an American soldier, career military Judge Advocate General Maj. Sean Drummond is yanked from a Bermuda beach to serve as co-counsel at the request of brilliant civilian defense attorney and gay/lesbian legal activist Katherine Carlson. Bitter rivals in law school and complete political opposites, these two bash heads on a case that is anathema to army brass, sparks Korean riots, ignites gay activist and right-wing religious groups, sets off a media frenzy and fuels a push to get U.S. troops out of South Korea. JAG officers are unloved at best, but Drummond is despised and sabotaged on all sides as Carlson plays puppet master by fueling his ego and baiting the brass. Facing the army equivalent of a hanging judge, corrupt Korean police and devious CIA actions, Drummond fears for his client's future and his own. Haig's hero (back in action after his turn in Secret Sanction) cracks wise with refreshingly derogatory humor, skewering diplomats, bleeding hearts, religious nuts, military homophobes and gay activists alike while skillfully untangling the issue of gays in the military. Korean culture and the country's North/South divide play an important role in the novel's denouement, as Haig successfully kindles his powder keg of a plot.

From Library Journal
Haig's first novel, Secret Sanction, was a riveting story of war crimes in the Balkans. In his new book, a horrible crime has occurred in South Korea. A U.S. Army officer is accused of the rape and murder of the son of a South Korean statesman, and Maj. Sean Drummond has the unenviable task of defending him. Worse for Drummond, his co-counsel is civilian lawyer Katherine Carlson. The two have despised each other since law school. Carlson is brilliant but lost in a court-martial environment, while the irreverent Drummond is an excellent lawyer but far from a traditional military officer, offending many with techniques that appear outrageous at least to the military. Still, he has a background in Special Forces and can be lethal when pushed. Mortal Allies features corruption, spies, assassinations, riots, and numerous intriguing complications, including gay pride issues and the threat of invasion from North Korea. Intelligent, exciting, and entertaining, this is an excellent second work by the son of former secretary of state Alexander Haig. For all public libraries. Robert Conroy, Warren,

Fantastic Military Law Thriller
By Daniel T. Ferry
Major Sean Drummond continues to fit the bill, as a witty, wise-cracking, charismatic JAG attorney who finds ways to entertain in cases where the odds are severely stacked against him. "Mortal Allies" takes place in South Korea. A by-the-book Captain is charged with the most unspeakable acts one can be charged with. The evidence is strong enough to convict even with a severely biased jury. Sean Drummond was hand-picked as co-counsel by an old schoolmate from Georgetown Law. A female student whom he just couldn't get along with. As an added kicker, these charges were committed against the son of the South Korean Minister of Defense!

All of this makes for a compelling novel. And from what it seems, when this novel is written by Brian Haig, it's practically guaranteed to satisfy. Drummond is raw, funny and witty. The plot is thoroughly engaging and quick. The character development is as strong as is necessary.

This is easily a book I'd recommend to anyone who likes a strong central character in military fiction. Well done!

Good thriller with just the right comedic touch
By elvistcob@lvcm.com
"Mortal Allies" tells the story of an Army lawyer assigned to defend an American soldier in South Korea accused of murder. But there is layer upon layer of complications that make this an extremely interesting read. First, the accused is gay. The victim is male lover of the accused. The victim is also the son of the Minister of Defense of South Korea. Finally, the case is airtight, with conviction virtually a certainty.
All of the above would have made it a decent thriller, but there's more. We get to look into the fragile alliance our country has with South Korea. If not for the American presence, the Korean War would likely resume after half a century. But there have been so many accounts of misbehaving U.S. soldiers that the Koreans are ready to toss them out anyway. The danger that North Korea poses, both in the novel and in today's headlines make it better.
But what puts it over the top is the relationship between the defense lawyers on the case. The narrator is a fairly conservative Army lifer who was second in his class. By one point. To a female. A very liberal female. They were at each other's throats in college, and he finds himself with her on the defense team. There has not been such good sparring since Bruce Willis took it up with Cybil Shepard, and this makes for great reading.
The book executes a perfect balance between the serious and the humorous. The murder plot gets more and more complicated, reaching to high levels of government More people die, and we see the pain experienced from this very clearly. I was hoping for more information on that most mysterious country, North Korea, and was not disappointed in that area either. But the humor does balance out at the right times, as the lead character has to work with his old nemesis, her very gay team, and the issue of military gays in general. The plot takes several twists, and quite a few secrets are revealed as we go along.
I will make note of one of the secrets, but only to point out a hint. Like the movie "The Sixth Sense", all the clues are there if you just look for them. If you read the book, look for the term "blue eyes", and it will give you a connection for one of the books big surprises.
Now go out and get the book.

A great military legal thriller!
By Nick G
Sean Drummond returns to investigate a puzzling murder.
Summoned to South Korea, Sean must look into the bizarre murder of a young Korean man. The crime is unlike anything Sean has seen, and the defendant, a young officer, swears his innocence. The Koreans see the crime as a repulsive act of homosexuality, and necrophilia, but Whitewall (the young accused officer) claims he did not kill the young man and have sex with him, and to make matters worse Sean must team up with his law school rival, Katherine Carlson, a lawyer known for taking controversial cases.
As the investigation heats up, Sean senses an attraction with Katherine, one that could prove to be dangerous for both of them for behind the murder of the young man lies a conspiracy too shocking for words, friends that may be enemies, and a killer waiting for the right moment to strike again.
`Mortal Allies' continues the strong series of Sean Drummond military legal thrillers and what an enjoyable novel it is; suspenseful and well-written the novel grabs you by the throat and doesn't let go until the last page is turned. Taking elements of the best military, and legal thrillers `Mortal Allies' speeds along with an engrossing plot filled to the hilt with unexpected twists.
Brian Haig is quickly taking over the territory once owned by Nelson DeMille, and he is doing a terrific job of it. His new novel deserves to be one of the summer's big bestsellers, and catapult Mr. Haig to the front of other authors writing in the genre.
A MUST read!

Amazon.com Review
After some 20 years as a highly respected aerobic fitness instructor and health promoter--one who rarely uses the phrase "lose weight"--Kathy Smith is shifting her priorities. "I would never want to choose, but if I could only do one form of training from now on, I'd give up cardio and focus on weight training." A strong statement, indeed! The title of this, her fourth book, suggests Smith's goal is to help exercisers lose weight. But as readers work through the engrossing chapters on physiology, exercise basics, and making the shift from aerobics to weight lifting, Smith says they'll note that weight loss is simply a pleasant by-product of the true benefits generated by this straightforward, nonthreatening weight-lifting program.

Smith believes in the power of consistent, progressive exercise with free weights and weight-lifting machines to counteract the muscle loss and slower metabolism that naturally come with age and typically cause the pounds to pile on. Her 12-week "mini commitment" eases newcomers into a comprehensive program of weight lifting and sensible eating, and includes weekly checklists for tracking workouts and meals. Large photos accompany clearly written descriptions of more than 60 stretches and exercises, nicely organized by muscle group (chest, back, abdominals, and so on). Just pick a gym or a room at home, and Smith will provide the routine. Advocates of her popular fitness videos (more than two dozen to date) will appreciate Smith's natural warmth, encouragement, and intelligence throughout this motivational book. --Liane Thomas

Strength training is no longer a mystery
By A Customer
Prior to reading this book, I only used weights if they were part of an aerobics class. Now I have the confidence to walk into a weight room at a gym! Kathy teaches readers how to use weights both at home and in the gym setting. The how-to photos are very helpful. I also enjoyed the chapter on diet and was impressed by the fact that Kathy consulted with a Registered Dietitian for guidance on the nutrition chapter. I would recommend this book to anyone interested in learning how to incorporate strength training into their fitness routine.

Weight Lifting Reinforcement
By A Customer
Kathy Smith's companion book Lift Weights to Lose Weight to her popular tape and DVD is a strong reinforcement to her weight lifting program. The book describes additional sets, and is a complement to the tape. The extra information about benefits from weight lifting for general health and fitness is valuable. When I need a little renewal I read a few chapters in the book and I'm on track to keep with the program.

Great foudation for weight lifting
By Brandy Serna
When I bought this book I didn't know the diffence between a rep. and a set. I have enjoyed the benefits of cardio workouts for years and I felt like I was ready to go a step further and begin stregth training. This book was EXCELLENT to give me the exact insight I needed to get started. Kathy takes an aproach that is often sadly missed in weight training books, she gives as much attention to home weight training as gym weight training. I love to train at home, and hate the gym scene, and yet so many books only tell you how to work muscles using only specificaly designed weight training machines, available only at the gym. From the beginning Kathy expains both the pros and cons of home and gym training and lets the reader choose. From there she balances her attention between both the home and the gym scene. I particularly loved that she went on to give helpful tips in starting your own at home set of weights for much less than you would think, and she explains how to add on to that set and what at home machines are worth their weight in gold vs. which one will more than likely only collect dust. Kathy goes on to explain the benefits of weight training and as well as tips to the most effective methods. For each exercise she specifies the muscle that is going to be targeted, the set up for the exercise, exactly what to do during the exercise, and what you need to focus on. By the time I was through this book I was sounding like one of my friends who is an actual trainer. This book offers great insight on weight training and I highly recommend it to anyone interested in taking the next step in their fitness training, I can't believe the changes I have noticed in my body!

From Publishers Weekly
After six years as a White House speechwriter for Reagan and Bush, Robinson enrolled at Stanford Business School, wrestled for two years in perpetual exhaustion with often incomprehensible mathematical, organization and marketing concepts and, upon earning his MBA "union card for yuppies," interviewed in the communications world of Robert Maxwell, Steve Jobs and Rupert Murdoch (who hired him for a brief stint). In the tradition of Scott Turow's One L for potential students who are curious about Harvard Law School, the author sets out with humor and perception to answer the question that no business school catalogue does: What is business school like? Then Robinson dismisses the value of an MBA degree in the economic downturn after the fat '80s; for him the degree did not pay off as a "straight and easy road to riches." Robinson explains: "Today I'm back to being what I was before I went to business school, a writer." BOMC and Fortune Book Club alternates.

From Kirkus Reviews
A funny and frenetic account of Robinson's crucial first year in Stanford's MBA program, offering an education in itself as well as a cautionary tale. Stanford's atypical MBA program combines Harvard's case-study approach and Chicago's business theory but has a much more diverse, laid-back student body. With graduate work at Oxford and a career as a White House speech writer behind him, Robinson was a ``poet''- -in Stanford lingo, accepted to add variety to the management consultants and number crunchers. Like most of his peers in 1988, his motive for getting an MBA (which one professor called a ``yuppie union card'') was to secure an insurance policy for a lucrative career as an investment banker, financial consultant, or the like. Robinson found himself struggling to understand not only supply-and-demand curves, but also decision trees and influence diagrams. He also discovered his classmates' appalling ignorance of economic philosophy, whether Adam Smith or Karl Marx, and the persistence of gender issues in the B-school's race-blind meritocracy. His book is an album of late-night studying, random ``cold calls'' by professors in class, impossible exams, competition, and camaraderie. Robinson got a job with media mogul Rupert Murdoch, from which he was fired less than a year later in the recession. His peers likewise graduated to diminished expectations, but all got the credentials and contacts to improve their careers or change their lives. Todays business schools, with enrollments declining, have begun to expand their programs' ties to real business experience and to balance professors' teaching responsibilities with their research, but these problems are beyond the scope of Robinson's own vivid experience. Not the ultimate B-school survival guide, but a genial description of everything about getting an MBA that you wanted to know but were afraid to find out. Review
"A refreshingly candid book ... required reading for ...anyone with an interest in the difference between advertising and reality." -- Wess Roberts, author of Leadership Secrets of Attila the Hun

"Brilliant, funny, occasionally profound...the best book yet on the mazes of post-graduate American education. Don’t matriculate without it!" -- George Gilder, author of Wealth and Poverty

"Devastatingly funny...I assume all MBA students have read it. All their professors certainly have." -- Niall Ferguson, Stern School of Business, New York University

"Fabulous…it’s fun, it’s wild, it’s weird, I loved the book." -- Tom Peters

"The book is very good…it rings wonderfully true in its detail. The author strives for humorous effect and succeeds." -- Michael Lewis, The New York Times Book Review

Good overview of the MBA program if you're a "poet"
By A Customer
This book is quite entertaining to the prospective MBA student. However, Mr. Robinson spends quite a bit of time lamenting how he's a "poet" (someone who cannot handle the quantitative subjects) and in over his head. While this situation makes for good comedy, it is not very helpful for those of us entering an MBA program and reasonably confident in our quantitative skills and knowledgeable about our reason for pursuing a business career. Overall, a good quick read.

SO SO TRUE!
By i-read
Being a first year full-time MBA student is tough, demanding, and rigorous. This little gem summarizes the fact you'll have little left of your life when you start the program.
Words of advice to MBA wannabes:
1. READ THIS! It's funny and too true. You'll see that he (like me) was unprepared for what was unleashed upon him.
2. Take an accounting and statistics class before you go! You'll save yourself some major headaches!
3. It's as tough as he describes but we're supposed to get through it...I hope!
Go Maryland!
