An Eye-Opener Sans The Wool
By Rachel Elaine
Back-to-back, I've read this book and the other one by Dr. John Lee, "What Your Doctor May Not Tell You About Pre Menopause: Balance Your Hormones And Your Life From Thirty To Fifty." Although the one just mentioned is more pertinent to my age group, and both books cover much of the same ground, I chose to review this book because it seems to be more in-depth. Both books, however, are laden with valuable information for women of any age.

The late Dr. Lee had done his homework even after medical school ended and it showed within both of his books. Everything is explained simply, concisely, thoroughly and in easily understandable terms.

Topics include: biochemistry of the body and synthetic drugs and hormones, mechanisms of the body, glands and functions, the estrogen myth and results of HRT study, female cancers and causes, autoimmune disorders, pros of natural progesterone and details of all relevant hormones, the pharmaceutical community and conventional medicine practices, illness and natural prevention, nutrition and exercise, osteoporosis and bone re-building, vitamins, herbs and minerals, heart disease and strokes, insulin and glucose, thyroid problems, liver health and many, many more that tie everything together so sensibly.

Without the specific label of a holistic doctor, Dr. Lee obviously believed and practiced a more natural way for his patients to live with optimal health and well-being. His books attest to the facts that natural is always best; synthetic drugs will always have side effects because they are foreign substances to our bodies; radical surgery is not always the best answer and menopause is not a to-be-feared disease.

EVERY WOMAN IN AMERICA NEEDS TO READ THIS BOOK!!!!
By Buford
Well, this book should be read by every woman in America. Younger women should read the sequel about pre-menopause. I am 15 yrs post-menopausal and even though I am a retired RN, did not realize that the funk I have been feeling for quite a while was from estrogen dominance. I had been searching online for "impediments to weight loss" and kept coming across the term "estrogen dominance" so kept reading. Once I read the symptoms and realized I was the poster child for same, I ordered a hormone test kit from Dr. Lee's website. I included cortisol in the saliva test kit because I am a type A person and I figured my cortisol was elevated, which can also impede weight loss. It was no surprise that I had zero progesterone. It was a surprise that my cortisol levels were low at all 4 times/day tested. The doctor at the weight loss place where I go pointed the low cortisol levels out, explained adrenal fatigue to me and recommended an adaptogen called Adreno-Mend. Who knew?
I have been to 3 board certified family practice docs or internists since my uterus had its retirement party. I had a bone density test 5 years ago which indicated osteopenia-the doc said to just take calcium with Vitamin D. It burns me up that none of them ever mentioned bio-identical hormones to me, even though every symptom I have complained of points to hormone imbalance. The fact is, progesterone protects us from breast cancer, uterine cancer, and osteoporosis. In fact, if you don't have progesterone on board, the calcium & vitamin D are largely futile. It burns me up that I had to discover all this on my own. When I took the hormone test results to my own physician (who I like and respect a lot) he gave it a cursory glance and said "This is not mainstream medicine. You do not need hormone therapy. This is a normal part of aging".
So, ladies, if you are like me, having trouble losing weight, having unexplained fluid retention, having itching skin, and fatigued from inability to sleep more than 4 hrs/night, read this book (and order a test kit to document your hormone levels). This all occurs gradually, so you don't realize you feel like crap-you accept it as normal. I'm happy to say that I found a doctor who understands this enough to prescribe bio-identical progesterone for me, and the Adreno-Mend, and to say: You have got to normalize your sleep cycle to overcome the adrenal fatigue. I'm sleeping 7-8 hrs/night now, my skin does not itch, fluid retention is reduced, all the symptoms that I accepted as normal have subsided or disappeared. Don't be ignorant like I was, read this book!

THE Best Book on Natural HRT
By Lovejoy
This little $8.00 paperback book changed the way I look at the medications I was taking, and now I am approaching menopause with a new, true understanding. I have a natural, over-the-counter bio-identical HRT plan that has quickly worked to make me feel better.

Dr. John Lee's book is much more than your typical clinical info about "what to expect when you feel like a fading old bag slogging through menopause", but it does have a great deal of clinical info. But it's really about ALL of the female-related medical conditions that exist. It's for women of all ages, from those in their 20s to those super-seniors in their 80s and 90s. And it's about how all of us of all ages will benefit from bio-identical progesterone cream. The book talks about natural progesterone's history, clinical studies, usage, and how the medical community continues to prescribe fake chemical/synthesized meds because they can't make money from a natural product than can't be patented. Dr. Lee talks about the soaring rates of osteoporosis, breast cancer, etc., and how these are generally man-made diseases in industrialized countries.

Dr. Lee discusses the following: osteoporosis (see the clinical trials in the book that prove progesterone cream prevents and CURES osteoporosis for women of all ages, even seniors) fibroids, cystic breasts, hair loss related to PCOS/androgenic alopecia and hair loss from "The Change", PMS symptoms, and the incredibly uncomfortable changes peri- and menopausal and post-menopausal women suffer through. Progesterone cream is great for breast cancer patients, those who have had hysterectomies, heart disease, polycystic ovaries (PCOS), endometriosis, vaginitis, migraines, cholesterol issues, and those trying to switch from conventional HRT to a natural regimen. Progesterone cream is not a cure-all, but it definitely helps--significantly--with a huge variety of hormonally-related "female trouble" for women of all ages. Bio-identical progesterone cream is inexpensive, does not require a prescription or a doctor's office visit, it's safe, and it works. So that's why your doctor doesn't tell you about it.

Be aware that the low-dose 40mg progesterone cream per day that Dr. Lee recommends is not the recommended dosage these days...he passed in 2003, and since then, there has been a lot of new thinking about his approach. Many menopausal women have suffered through years of estrogen dominance and therefore need what is called a "loading dose" to initially compensate for this. This approach means taking 100mg+ progesterone cream per day without a break for 3-4 months, then trying to take a break of 1-2 days per month and slowly work for a 5-7 day break per month. During the months you start trying to take a break, you might try to slowly (by 10mg per day)lower your progesterone cream dose to the physiological doses originally recommended by Dr. Lee...down to 20-60mg per day is what some women strive for. But some women may need more--listen to your body--there are plenty of women who take 100mg or more per day without ever taking a break--and have been doing so for years without receptor site problems. Please check out Wray White's website for her product NatPro and how to manage your menopause and other hormone issues.

BIG NEWSFLASH...Dr. John Lee's family (he passed suddenly in 2003) now makes their own progesterone cream...it's called ProgesterAll, and you can buy it at his family website, which can be found by Googling his name or the ProgesterAll name...don't know if I'm allowed to post it here, but here it is anyway:[...]

I wish good fortune to all my beautiful Rosehip Sisters, and hope Dr. John Lee's book and its program helps you embrace Your Change with wisdom and light.

POSTSCRIPTS: *If you have interest in Dr. Christiane Northrup, check out my review of the revised 2006 paperback edition of "The Wisdom of Menopause"...Northrup continues to urge women to eat soy products as a phytoestrogenic assist to their menopausal symptoms, but the phytic acid blocks magnesium and therefore creates a huge nutritional and endocrine depletion problems.

**The Remifemin brand with black cohosh has been used in Europe and the States for over 50 years and it has clinical trials backing up its efficacy. It does NOT cause liver problems, contrary to recent concerns [refer to the Reuters Health article called "Study Finds No Evidence Black Cohosh Damages Liver" written by Amy Norton, and published on Fri Jan 28, 2011].

From Library Journal
These two books are based on the ancient Greek concept of the four temperaments (sanguine, melancholic, phlegmatic, and choleric). First-time author Maddron refers to them as colors-orange, gold, green, and blue, respectively. Each has a "ruling sign" (air, earth, water, and fire) and is typified by physicality, high standards, intellectualism, and sensitivity respectively. Chapters cover the characteristics of each personality type as well as various combinations, and the author includes an instrument for self-analysis. Particularly intriguing is Maddron's discussion of how colors complement one another in functional society and the importance of understanding and appreciating the strengths and limitations of each. Despite the risks inherent in oversimplifying people and society, Maddron's treatment is nonetheless very thoughtful. Rolfe's passionate examination of the role and function of the four temperaments in life translates into half handbook, half treatise. Like Maddron, Rolfe (The 7 Secrets of Successful Parents) describes the traits and characteristics typical of each humor and accounts for the blending of multiple humors. Reasonable and encouraging in tone, the book emphasizes that "the humors can only add to and not detract from your deepest understanding as your life unfolds." Rolfe uses a holistic and ambitious approach that sometimes meets with uneven results. Discussing all the humors at once is often confusing, and the nutritional suggestions feel incomplete. While neither author tries to pigeonhole people, both present "a set of lenses for looking at the world" and its inhabitants. Both are recommended; Maddron's narrower scope results in a clear, entertaining read, while Rolfe is for readers seeking a serious treatment.

Great advice for dog owners! There are no bad dogs, only bad owners!
By Patrick
Great advice for dog owners!

I truly believe that their are no bad dogs, there are simply bad owners. Pit bull, rottweiler, etc... their behavior is all a function of their owner and how they are raised and trained. Brian Kilcommons and Sarah Wilson agree with this view point and support it in their guide to training your dog.

This book is full of great advice and challenges you to think about dog ownership and the role you as an owner play.

I highly recommend for any first time dog owner.

I've occasionally given 5-star reviews to other books, but none of them are close to being as good and IMPORTANT to their respective field as this book. Without this book, my rescued dog would never have adjusted so easlily into his new home.
When I decided to get a my first dog, I needed a good reference book. Luckily, I had read Good Owners, Great Cats and had loved it. So choosing this was a no-brainer. At the same time, I bought two other dog training/reference books and got five or six from the library. Brian's book was the most informative, fun and easy book to read. It covers all that one must know for responsible dog ownership - general training, health issues, dealing with problems, and (most importantly) understanding your dog through its body language.
If you are looking specifically for advanced training, you may want to supplement this book with something else. But the casual dog owner needs nothing else.

Wow! Did I ever need to be trained!
By Michelle
As the title cheekily suggests, the key to good dog behavior is good owner behavior. When my beloved terrier mix of 17 years passed in February, I wasn't sure I wanted another dog at all, but I was sure I didn't want another terrier. I loved my dog dearly, but he was a bit of a handful at times. After reading "Good Owners...", "Paws To Consider" and TiVo-ing every episode of "The Dog Whisperer", I realized a lot of my dog's issues had been my issues! Ouch! So, when I agreed to foster Flash 2 weeks ago, I was clear that I would only foster him 'til a forever home could be found, as he is a Cardigan Welsh Corgi/Jack Russell Terrier mix. He had been abused and his owners had given him to the shelter with nothing more than a name. With "Good Owners..." never more than an arms-length away, I decided to go ahead and exercise him daily and start trying out my new-found skills, so I would be ready when I found "my" dog. Needless to say, 3 days later I called the rescue group and told them they were never getting Flash back. Simply put, the book works!! Flash is walking calmly on a loose lead, doesn't flinch anymore when he passes a man or a loud truck, sits and lays down on command, and we've just started working on "stay". I never realized how crucial daily, brisk exercise is for even a smaller dog. The authors say, "A tired dog is a good dog" and they've made a believer out of me. I would have never expected such good things from a JRT. The BEST part is, his separation anxiety has all but disappeared! He's learned to remain calm when I get home--er, I mean I'VE learned to remain calm when I get home and not baby his anxious behavior. He gets affection & attention when he's calm, which is now happening within about 90 seconds, thanks to this book. It works like a charm!!

Amazon.com Review
In this latest thriller from perennial bestselling author James Patterson, Washington cop Alex Cross gets involved in his partner's effort to save the life of an old Army buddy who's facing execution for a horrendous and inexplicable murder spree in North Carolina. The Army's evidence against Sergeant Ellis Cooper, a decorated Vietnam vet, is overwhelming, which isn't surprising since it's all been planted by a quartet of killers whose reason for framing the erstwhile hero isn't revealed until long after they are. The big secret is who set the murderers loose, and in true cliffhanger fashion, Patterson keeps it under wraps until the very end. Meanwhile, his usual blend of action, violence, fast pacing and uninspired-though-serviceable prose prevail, and will probably do so all the way to the top of the bestseller lists. --Jane Adams

From Publishers Weekly
With Patterson continuing to move in unexpected directions (his next novel, The Jester, due out in March 2003, is a medieval adventure), it's a pleasure to see him touch home base with another Alex Cross thriller this one the best Cross yet. The mice of the title are three homicidal Army Rangers, Vietnam vets, and their mysterious controller; as is usual in the Cross novels, we know this much sooner than does the black Washington, D.C., detective, who gets involved when an army careerist, Sgt. Ellis Cooper, an old pal of Cross's colleague and best friend, John Sampson, is found guilty at military trial for the brutal murder of three women, but claims innocence. Traveling to North Carolina, where Cooper awaits execution, and to Fort Bragg to investigate, Cross and Sampson encounter stonewalling among the military which only intensifies as they uncover a pattern of other military men executed for like crimes they may not have committed. As the duo visits West Point, they confront an even thicker "gray" wall of silence. Meanwhile, the killers strike again, and when Cross and Sampson identify them, the Rangers begin hunting the cops. The action leads, as is Patterson's custom, to a firecracker string of climaxes; the finale finds Cross handcuffed and stripped naked in deep woods, about to be killed. Throughout, Patterson expertly balances the conspiratorial action with intriguing developments in Cross's domestic life, including health problems for his family's anchor, the elderly Nana, and growing romance between him and a California cop. Everything clicks in this novel, from Patterson's patented short chapters (115 here) to the whiplash plotting. This may not be high lit, but it sure is entertainment.

From Library Journal
In the latest Alex Cross thriller, his partner, John Sampson, takes center stage. A friend of John's, U.S. Army Sergeant Cooper, has been convicted of murdering three women. The military higher-ups are convinced that it's an open-and-shut case, but John knows that his friend is innocent. Their investigation is hampered at every turn, as if the army doesn't care to have the truth revealed, even when Cross and Sampson uncover other military men who were possibly framed for murder. Meanwhile, the real killers, who are methodical in covering their tracks and leaving incriminating evidence pointing to their targets, discover the investigation and decide to mark Cross and Sampson for extermination. This time around, Patterson's story is more personal than plot-driven, and there are a lot fewer plot twists than one usually finds in a Patterson novel. Still, Four Blind Mice is a vast improvement over the previous two Alex Cross thrillers (Roses Are Red, Violets Are Blue), which were both poorly written and unnecessarily gruesome, with a number of unrealistic passages. Libraries won't be able to keep this new book on the shelves.

Alex Cross Last Case or Not
By David C Oakes
A lot happens in this book. John Sampson falls in love. Nana Mama's has medical problems. She shows us why she is so spacial to Alex, John and the kids. Alex Cross accepts his last case - or not. The sad truth about why so many of those who served in Vietnam ended up with PTSD. Alex finds someone he can love but it is such a long distance relationship. She seems so perfect for him. A lot to put together here but it all helps us understand why Alex Cross life is so interesting and so complicated.

Patterson's "Alex Cross" Formula Works Like a Charm
By John M Hartz
James Patterson developed a plot formula for the Alex Cross series and follows it to a "T". They are hoot to read, however, especially in the order they were published.

Three and a half stars
By Pam from Texas
I didn't like this one as much as I did the first one in the series. That's not to say I didn't like it, because I did. Kitty Norville is a special kind of radio talk show host. She talks to her guests about such subjects as werewolves, vampires, and all things that go bump in the night. What makes Kitty such an expert on the subject? She is a werewolf.

In the first book, Kitty and the Midnight Hour, she finally breaks away from her pack and now travels from city to city doing her radio show. Kitty is shocked when she is called to testify in Washington before the senate on the subject of paranormal creatures. More specifically,
a hearing concerning the funding of a center for the study of the supernatural community is in question. Kitty has always preferred to keep her anonymity, never appearing before camera. There is no way out of it so she arranges for her lawyer, Ben, to come with her.

On the way to her hotel in Washington she is practically kidnapped and brought to the vampire mistress of Washington's home. She is told she will be protected in the vampire's home because things could get dangerous for her.

It doesn't take Kitty long to discover one of the senators has a secret agenda of his own. He is a radical Christian who believes Kitty and all of the other paranormals are demons and should be eradicated from the face of the earth. There is also the reporter who will do anything to get his story. She does make friends along the way but as the full moon gets closer, Kitty's problems grow. It seems no matter where she goes there is a problem waiting for her.

Even though Kitty has broken away from her pack and no longer has to obey her alpha, she still retreats into submission in reflex to confrontation. It's only as a second thought that she stands up for herself.

Less Action, Still a Good Ride
By Pacey1927
Kitty, the werewolf turned talk show DJ, is on the move as a single werewolf without a pack's protection. Since her old pack was oppressive and abusive, Kitty is enjoying her new 'identity'. Here, Kitty has been called to Washington to testify before the Senate in a hearing publically announcing werewolves, vampires, and other creatures of the night. Kitty finds hereself messed up with new characters, she can't know who to trust and everyone seems to have their own agenda. By about 100 pages in this story, I was feeling disheartened. The story seemed slow, bogged down by too many new characters and not enough action. Time and again Kitty remarkes on things being a letdown, or 'anticlimactic' which fits the story here, actually. In the first volume, "Kitty and the Midnight Hour", I remember being disgusted by Kitty and how she let the alpha treat her. That book turned around for me when Kitty decided to stop playing the weak victim. This story too ends up much better off than I had given credit for. An old favorite shows up from the first book and several more interesting things shape up. There is a betrayal or two, a murder or two, and Kitty remains a strong heroine. I found myself a little sorry to have this one end. I also rate the bonus story "Kitty Meets the Band" as an excellent addition. It's only a short story, but its fun. I recommend this one, and I also look forward to the next installment.

Decent Sequel
By David Howe
I enjoyed the first installment to the Kitty the Werewold storyline. The one point that made me pause was how easily one of the Big Question characters was dealt with, in an almost offhand way in this book. I won't be terribly specific, but when a Big Evildoer is disposed of, I tend to wait for the Bigger Badder Evildoer behind them, pulling the strings to be made evident. So, either I read the Gray Lensman and 1930's sci-fi too much, or I just thought it was distracting to the plot that was unfolding.

That said, there was still plenty of question throughout about the good guy/bad guy status of new characters, which is entertaining, and makes the cast feel more complex, which is good. They're more 'real', or at least as real as a set of lycanthropes and vampires can seem, I suspect.

So, I good effort, and I am looking forward to the next installment.

Watch out for the CAT that the Dog can never CATCH
By Miguel Hidalgo
I am going to be put in the dog house for this review :(

"Bow," where's the "WOW," toss me the meaty bone; not a few scraps. At first, I was entertained by this book. Then, as I began diverting more attention to the content and focus of the book, I felt let down.

I had just finished reading Mr. Kiyosaki's Four Quadrants, a spectacular book. I was expecting the same quality. Unfortunately, this book is not focused enough. It lacks the 'quality quotient' from the previous books I had read from the Rich Dad/Poor Dad Series.

In a positive tone, I learned quite a bit from his imagery of comparing sales traits to different types of dogs. The book provided great exercises that were easy to follow and they worked for changing my sales performance! It also provided me with a quick and easy reference about how to utilize and differentiate sales people responding in different situations.

However, do not rely on this book. It misses quite a few important elements for sales that are relevant to the introduction provided by Mr. Kiyosaki, and the theme of this book. Continue the learning process about how to be a great salesperson.

An enlightening novel
By Evan Wearne
I haven't yet begun a career in sales, but I am going to begin tis summer. In preparation I have been reading books that I think will help me. So some of the ideas he talks about were harder for me to relate to, but he explains everything really well. The first part of the book, identifying which breed you are, was the most difficult for me to figure out, because I haven't tried to sell anything yet. But the rest of the book, I enjoyed immensely. My sales manager has been talking to me about dealing with rejection and objections, and Singer goes into great detail about how to deal with both. Additionally, Singer stresses the importance of a positive outlook.
Some of this book was over my head, but I plan to read it again at the end of the summer. Even though some of it was hard for me to relate to, he did a great job explaining what it takes to be a successful salesman. He also does a great job of building anticipation for a career in sales. The book is well written and easy to read.

Amazon.com Review
Likened to a "young Muhammad Ali," Alex Cross, the Porsche-driving profiler, doctor, detective, and father of two has seen his fair share of vicious killers. From a bloodthirsty butcher who came after his family (Cat and Mouse) to a devilish duo working cross-country (Kiss the Girls), Cross has managed to outmaneuver all of his enemies. Until he meets the Weasel.

A series of killings in the forgotten, crime-infested ghettos of southeast D.C. has sent Cross and his 6'9" 250-pound partner, John Sampson, in search of the "Jane Doe" killer. However, their racist, tyrannical boss George Pitman orders them to stay out of the southeast and investigate the high-profile murder of a wealthy white man. Cross already has suspicions that the murders are linked, but when Sampson's ex turns up in an abandoned southeast warehouse kicked to death, the two detectives carry on with their original investigation. Meanwhile, Cross's longtime love, Christine (Cat and Mouse), has taken prominence in his life, and it looks as if the two will finally get hitched--with one glitch: Cross puts everything he loves in jeopardy as he obsessively goes after the Weasel.

Akin to a slick Hollywood action flick, Pop Goes the Weasel doesn't have time for meaningful character development or thoughtful moral analysis. And it doesn't need to. Its winning formula is based on short scenes (chapters average about 3 pages), addictive plot progression, and mean dialogue: "Sampson sighed and said, 'I think her tongue is stapled inside the other girl. I'm pretty sure that's it, Alex. The Weasel stapled them together.' I looked at the two girls and shook my head. 'I don't think so. A staple, even a surgical one, would come apart on the tongue's surface.... Crazy glue would work." --Rebekah Warren

From Publishers Weekly
Patterson dedicates his latest (after 1998's When the Wind Blows) to "the millions of Alex Cross readers who so frequently ask 'Can't you write faster?'" Those readers won't be disappointed: the successful formula is in high gear, with the Washington, D.C., psychologist/homicide detective up to his ears in unsolved murders. This tale features a duplicitous villain, a glut of dirty office politics and the inevitable threat to someone Cross just can't live without. A highly moral character, Cross is now firmly rooted in many imaginations as Morgan Freeman, who played him in the film version of Kiss the Girls. When he's not caring for Damon and Jannie, his two young children, Cross takes boys to visit their fathers in prison and works in a soup kitchen. After his boss, Chief Pittman, refuses to believe that a serial killer is striking in the neglected Southeast section, Cross and four other officers work extra hours on their own, the only ones who really care. Readers learn early on that the killer is a British diplomat, Geoffrey Shafer, a chilling madman ostensibly holding his sanity together with drugs. Shafer is obsessed with a real-life version of a computer game called the Four Horsemen, during which he masquerades as a taxi driver who kills his unsuspecting passengers. If Shafer is almost too good to be trueAanother fictional psychopath with infinite resourcesAPatterson is shrewd enough to show him making mistakes (like forgetting to wash) as he comes apart at the seams. The killer is caught in the middle of the narrative, setting the scene for a bold courtroom drama. Even the disappearance of Cross's new lady love (his wife was killed in a previous book) is less of a clich?d device than a ritual sacrifice as Patterson's well-oiled suspense machine grinds away with solid precision. 1 million first printing; $1 million ad/promo; 14-city author tour; Time Warner audio. From Library Journal
Alex Cross, last seen in Cat & Mouse, returns in Patterson's best book to date. With his fianc?e, Christine, by his side, Alex has regained the happiness he lost. He can't stay happy for long, of course, and his nemesis this time is Geoffrey Shafer, the Weasel. Shafer is a British diplomat who lives a secret life; he murders people during a fantasy game he plays with three other men around the globe. Alex doesn't know it, but he and the people he cares about are the newest pawns in the game. Even with implausible situations and an absurdly evil villain, the book is impossible to put down. Patterson has another guaranteed best seller on his hands, and fans will be clamoring for the next Alex Cross adventure.AJeff Ayers, Seattle P.L.

Greatest James Patterson Book Ever!
By Amazon Customer
I loved this book. I read most of James Patterson's books, but this one was my favorite. Alex Cross falls in love, and it's wonderful. The plot is brilliant, except for a few flaws, and the end makes you want more. It's a truly enjoyable book.

I was expecting a lot more
By LB
Well, it at least was better than When the Wind Blows, but most anything he could have written would have been better than that awful book.
This book seemed interesting at first. I have read all of the past Alex Cross books. After a few chapters, it became too similiar to the past stories. A weird serial killer case winds up in Alex's lap. The killer not only does horrible things to his victims, he also takes a personal interest in Alex and his family. Mr. Patterson, we've been there - done that.
I also thought I noticed that the "personal news" Alex told his family was repeated twice. But I honestly did not have enough interest to go back and reread the book to find out for sure. This has been mentioned before in these reviews, so it is apparently true. This is just an awful mistake on Mr. Patterson's part and also very careless editing.
The main thing I did not like about the book was the ending. I won't give anything away, but near the end of the next to the last chapter (when they were back in Jamaica again) there was a surprise that needed a LOT more explanation. In fact, there was really NO explanation of what had happened or why. Maybe, we are supposed to anticipate the explanations and reasons in the next book. But by that time I might not remember the circumstances or care much.

Keeps you guessing until the end
By MovieGuy
James Patterson has created Alex Cross so well, that he can be hard to distinguish from reality. He is a wonderful father, an upstanding citizen, an excelent cop, and a brilliant psychologist.
Pop Goes The Weasle, the latest installment of Alex Cross, gives his fans almost everything they could ask for and some they don't want!.
Just when Alex is the happiest he has ever been, the events surrounding the latest psychokiller threaten to make this the worst time of his life (even worse than when his wife was killed).
Will Alex pop the question to Christine? Will Alex prove to be a "bad cop", or worse yet a murderer? Will Alex lose what he holds dearest to his heart?
Read this book, and these questions and more will reel you in and keep you hooked until the very last page.
One caution! Don't read this book if you want a long read. I read this book in about 12 hours with no trouble!
