"Jennifur Brandt is the twenty-four-year-old founder and editor of the popular underground zine, Pesky Meddling Girls. She is currently in the process of developing a pilot with Warner Brothers. She made a memorable cameo appearance in the Alicia Silverstone hit film Clueless and designed a shoe campaign for the teen shoe maven, Steve Madden. She lives in Los Angeles surrounded by faux-leopard skin wallpaper, fuzzy pink pillows, and her cats Bettina and Tellulah."

What I considered "The Bible" at age 16!

I got this book when I was about 15 or 16 (24 now) and it meant the world to me! I loved it so much, I wrote a letter to Jennifur telling her how much she had inspired me.
First of all, I loved filling out all the little info about myself, making cute little collages, and was so inspired by all the inspirations!
I was a very..."unique" individual (I was basically a loser who dressed weird and had no friends) and this book served a lot of purpose for me. For one, it is filled with facts about taking care of yourself, etiquette, and DIY projects that may seem over-the-top or silly to adults, but were so awesome to myself as a teen! I found all the pictures of Jennifur so inspiring, (I especially loved the one with her collaged suitcase, totally made a ton of those myself) and her words really truly words to live by.
Lets face it, when you're 16 the world is working against you, you want nothing more than to live in your dreams and fantasize about the future, picturing yourself as a glamorous movie star running off to Hollywood to be the star of your own silent film. Or was that just me? All the same, this book is perfect for any young girl with a bit of interest in the unique, the glamorous, the vintage...it inspired me to do so many things - start my own journals filled with all sorts of pictures, makeover my bedroom to feel like a boudoir, even start my own 'zine!
I recommend this to any girl with her head in the clouds, any girl who has wished upon a star and truly believes it will come true, any girl who needs a little hope that life is so much better than it is at 14, 15, or 16. It will inspire, I promise.
It still sits on my bookshelf, and I still love to flip through it every now and then.

Twentysomething herself, Jennifur understands that 12 to 21 year old gals crave sisterly, loving advice while they ponder the mysteries of their own lives and minds (and parents!). She is here to help every reader get motivated and change her situation in positive ways. You're the main attraction in this movie; you are the writer AND the director too. And the wardrobe mistress, set painter... Feel flummoxed on how to make the move to rad femaleness? These pink, yellow and blue pages are bursting with the info you need. Begin by sending "Like" and "You Know" and non-pesky curse words to the recycle bin. Jennifur has invented a very cool brand of lingo, mixing street and teen speak with the kooky/fancy stylings of Old Hollywood movies. She is also a big advocate of the vintage plus new genre of make-up and clothing and she includes absolutely adorable paper dolls of herself and her lil' sis in their favorite gear. Now, don't think Jennifur is just some know-it all trying to tell you how to do it HER way. The book is less advice column, more workbook. Jennifur knows what questions to ask to get you writing, journal style. For instance, before she even gets into what to wear and how to wear it, she includes a page where you fill in answers to queries like "List the things about your body that you know are totally cute." She also supplies in a ton of lists: books for glamour queens, groovy movies, fascinating women and what to listen to while you are making yourself look like a real kitten are just a few of them. I'm gushing a tad here, but I really love this book. It gave me lots of ideas on how to improve my already pretty fantabulous life. Still not convinced ? What if I told you that Jennifur has serious cred in the entertainment and fashion world? She is currently in the process of developing a pilot with Warner Brothers. She had a tres cute cameo as "Nosejob Girl" in the film version of Clueless and designed a shoe campaign for shoe maven, Steve Madden. Jennifur also went bi-coastal doing work for Anna Sui-who she interviews at length in this book. This girl has brains, crazy creative ways, heart and moxie-and she also can count Drew Barrymore among her reviewers and close friends. Its time for every gal to join Jennifur and don tiara, sparkly pink lipgloss and a confident smile while waving to the multitude of fans (even the imaginary ones).
